I have noticed over the past year or so, a lot of people talking about
terminal server, and particulary the livingston portmaster in general.
I just want to say, these servers are crap. Not only do they not support
ospf, but have problems working with cisco and cisco-style routes. Proxy
arp doesnt work properly, their email tech support takes about 1-2 weeks
to respond to their email(if they respond at all), and the only way you
will get tech support on the phone is about 1 week of calling every few
hours. Yes, they are cheap, but you will get what you pay for.
Just the mere fact that it doesnt support ospf was good enough for me. If
I cant run multiple subnets, then there is no point in providing internet
services (RIP doesnt support multiple subnets). Does anyone have any
experience with a good terminal server?
