  Sounds like an rdump, not a regular dump. If you didn't intend to use
rdump, check to see why you're getting one (colon in dump file name or
rdump instead of dump).

  If you did intend to use rdump, this means that the remote system is
returning additional data that rdump doesn't expect. Do a "rsh hostname
ls" and look at the output. Make sure there's nothing but the ls output
there - no error messages, no banners, etc.
