If you mean *restrict* their usage, there are programs in any of
the comp.unix.sources archives which will do this for you.

There is some discussion of modifying the "class" fields to
conform to recent BSDI usage.  If you want to code this up
rather than using the comp.unix.sources programs, feel free.


I still can't figure out your claims about "DOS does this nicely";
I think you must be running seperate programs, like NetWare, which
are not part of DOS (like the archives programs are not technically
part of UNIX or UNIX-clonce OS's).
