Is the local Gateway a terminal server?  If so, try doing the below commands
(as root) and see if it helps.

sysctl -w net.inet.tcp.rfc1323=0
sysctl -w net.inet.tcp.rfc1644=0

If it does, then change the line in /etc/sysconfig which specifies
tcp_extensions to NO, ie:
tcp_extensions=NO

Then, go complain to whoever built your terminal server and tell them to
get with the program and write software that conforms to standards. :)
