I can't exactly say WHEN this problem started happening but I know it seems
to be around the time we upgraded from 1.1R to 2.0R and it has persisted
when upgrading to 2.1R and all permutations of sendmail.

the error:

Feb 12 10:07:28 tk sendmail[787]: JAA00787: SYSERR(root): collect: read timeout
on connection from listserv.cnet.com, from=<owner-dispatch@LISTSERV.CNET.COM>

Mail never gets through and sendmail will sit and sit and wait and wait
until eventually it does timeout.

Here's what a ps -agx looks like when it's running:

  854 ?? I 0:00.16 sendmail: server listserv.cnet.com child wait (sendma
  855 ?? I 0:00.33 sendmail: KAA00855 listserv.cnet.com [204.162.80.120]
 1273 ?? I 0:00.17 sendmail: server listserv.cnet.com child wait (sendma
 1279 ?? I 0:00.36 sendmail: KAA01279 listserv.cnet.com [204.162.80.120]

We are using SLIP at 28.8k - tty is set to 57600 but no diff when using
115200 ...

I know ti.com and aol.com have both had this problem with us and i'll be
damned if I can find ANY reason why. Even installed the latest and
greatest sendmail ... to no avail.

Anyone???

PLEASE? :-)

Thanks!
