you may get more information when you start the Xserver manually (by just 
typing X at the console) Your error might be due to a missing support
for the transport layer (no IP trasport configured in kernel). 

When starting the Xserver manually, you probably will loose control over 
your machine, as there will be no clients providing access to the OS. 
You either may 'reset-button' the PC or schedule a shutdown in background
before running X.
