Hi,
Same problems here!
I'm also a novice and trying to install FreeBSD 2.0.5 .
A tip:
$ startx > logfile 2>&1
This will write the flash of text to a file called 'logfile', so you can 
see where the troubles are.
I think I resolved as much problems I can,but still my system crashes.
I get the resolution I wanted, RAMDAC, ... when the fonts start to 
build, my screens turns black and the system hangs or restarts.

So, please ... I need some help to ... sorry !!!!
