Hi All,

I am trying to set up PPP (user process using /dev/tun0) on my FreeBSD 2.1
system. I have it running as a client and can connect outside. However I would
like to make it both, a client & PPP server.

I am totally confused at the instructions given in the PPP man page. I have
the following few (?) questions :

1. It says edit /etc/ttys to add the incoming ttyp to the port your modem is
connected. When I used ttyd1, nothing happened on my sending the HUP signal.
When I used ttyd0, my system crashed. Also I was unable to telnet to port 3000
& got a Connection Refused message.

2. It says, set your modem configuration correctly. How do I do that ? Is it
done through /etc/ppp/ppp.conf file. If so what is the "set dial" command so
that I can use my ppp in the dual mode.

How do I know that my system is ready to accept calls ? It rings (bcs if I am
in ppp and term, the modem says so) but the modem doesn't respond.

All help will be much appreciated. Please mail to me at
saurab@cs.dartmouth.edu.
