Well, I don't know how your XF86Config is set up (this is a
configuration file for your Xserver; usually it's located under
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11).  Maybe there are some more entries for other
resolutions defined.  Try pressing the '+' and '-' keys several times
(with some pauses in between) while holding down ALT and CTRL!
