 I often use "screen" (a vt100 virtual terminal type thingie) for
 that exact purpose - cut-n-paste.  I also have the benefit of being
 able to use the same program from remote :-) w/out having several 
 copies of the bulky telnet programs for win or os2, when
 checking on the system from remote.
