I just installed FreeBSD on a system with a 3Com 590 PCI ethernet card, an Adaptec
2940 ultra-wide PCI controler, and a S3 video card. (also PCI)

I'm sure the generic kernel has all kinds of extras compiled in that I don't need, and
it currently isn't bringing up the network on the 590 card so I'd like to recomile the
kernel to just support what I need.

So... can anybody shed some light on exactly how I do this ? I've recompiled
Linux kernels a few times but the process is escaping me for FreeBSD. I'd really
like to get the PCI ethernet card compiled in if it is supported.

Is it ?
