Hi,

The problem with copying `root.flp' from floppy to my DOS partition went away
as soon as I'd mailed this group about it, so I guess that was just down to
gremlins. However, now I've got a different problem.

The setup of the computer is as follows...

	486DX2 66MHz
	8Mb memory
	ST3660A hard drive - 1057 cylinders, 16 heads/cyl, 63 sectors/head
	NE2000 Ethernet card

and I've tried the installation by two routes (DOS partition and FTP), both
getting stuck at the same point. I've got rid of the DOS partition now, and
the CMOS believes the hard disk geometry is the true one of 1057/16/63 above.

Telling FreeBSD's fdisk that the geometry was the true one or alternatively
528/32/63 seemed to make a minor difference of when the machine hung, but hang
it did, after the files had been copied across and during the final

	`sh MAKEDEV all'

Please please please could someone explain what's going on, and help me fix
this problem? I'm something of a novice to getting my hands this dirty, and
I'd be very grateful for any assistance.

Please mail replies to Simon.Trasler@brunel.ac.uk.

Many thanks,
Simon.
