I am thinking about upgrading to a NexGen PCI Nx586-P110f (w.FPU)
motherboard and was wondering whether anyone had any experience of
running FreeBSD 2.1 on a NexGen chip, or has any (qualatitive or
quantative) impressions.

I would also be interested in opinions on the desirability or
otherwise of an FPU for UNIX/X - would the Nx586-133 (without FPU)
be a better choice - is X11 dominated by integer or floating point
performance ?

On paper the NexGen would seem to be a very good deal (have seen
motherboard + P110f chip advertised for $360) and I do have a
sneaking regard for their ability (as a small player) to provide
some competition for Intel (which must be a good thing for all
of us)
