How about zip/unzip?  Fully PKZIP/PKUNZIP v2.04g compatible.  I believe
they're on ftp.uu.net or ftp.uunet.com in a directory something like
/pub/archiving or /pub/comp/archiving or archivers.  Please forgive my bad
memory, but that should be enough info for you to find it.
