I've got the same problem. How would i get to that code to modify
it, concidering that the only way i managed to access the file system
was by choosing the fixit option, even then, i couldn't even do an
ls, just cd pwd and find.
Would I have to have the full source installed in order to modify
this, or is this source in the basic package?

What if i just plugged the drive in as a slave on the primary
controller? would i have to reinstall, or would it just start working
immediately?
(I'd still rather not have to do this, because my cables are too
short.....Maybe i should just try installing linux, or would that
have the same problem?
