I tangled with flexfax for quite a while... this is what I learned. First of
all you need the X11R6 libraries. I copied them from the live file system
CDROM to save myself the hassles of trying to install it. It's like this:
FlexFax (now called HylaFax) needs Ghostscript; Ghostscript needs the AFM
fonts (I think) and X11R6 libraries.

After I installed HylaFax, I got the same problem. So I installed GhostScript
and got the errors that it couldn't find the X11 libraries. So I copied them
from the live file system CDROM and TA-DA!

Sorry, can't answer why the modem isn't working. I am assuming that you are
running faxgetty and have made all the appropriate changes to /etc/ttys.
Also, I took a shot in the dark and configured the /etc/modems and the
gettytab files as if HylaFax was using tip and needed the default settings.
You can find more information on how to set these up from the handbook. You
may also want to surf out to http://www.vix.com/flexfax/ for a FAQ on the
subject.

One thing you will not find, however, is a discussion of the prerequisite
software/libraries neede to make the bugger work.
