It *is* the other way around.

And when was conforming to SVID a copyright infringement?

SVID was the US Government standard for Operating systems before
POSIX, DEC sued the government (on the grounds of VMS) and lost.
DEC lost because the SVID was free for implementation.
Now, *that* was a long time ago.
