a question like this was asked recently in one of the NT discussion
groups; since NT suddenly refused to acknowledge the existance of the
2940.

apparantly Adaptec (as i remember) updated the 2940's bios, or
something, and that screwed up NT's auto-detection. there was a way to
identify whether you had one of these new cards, but you'll have to go
(holding your nose) into the NT discussion areas to find this out.

maybe this is what's going on with your board.
