Yes, of course it can ! (just look at the 'ifconfig'  manpage, options 'alias')
By the way, if you're trying to alias 2 IP addresses in the same subnet, you can
not directly use this facility ... you have to bind the new address to lo0
(loopback device) instead, and then fill in the arp table manually (he, that's
tricky for hot-plugging stations on the network or for WEB virtual hosts ...)
