What makes you think that ???

There was support for several PCI devices in FreeBSD in 1994.
(How about Linux ???)

The BSD NCR driver was first released in June 1994 and became
full featured (disconnect, tags, FAST and WIDE transfers) more
than one year ago.

Before the end of 1994 there was support for PCI networks cards
for 10/100baseT and FDDI/CDDI.

PCI to PCI bridges are supported for nearly one year, too.
Their support is required for 4channel Ethernet cards or the
Adaptec 3940 dual channel SCSI host adapter.

There is support for a number of PCI cards, which are not
well supported under Linux today, AFAIK. How about the
Meteor frame grabber card, for example ?
(Please correct me if I'm wrong.)
