Malcom:

I don't think I've had this problem.  I've got one script I use that 
uses dbmopen and I *think* it's saving the stuff in the file. 
Unfortunately, I cannot reach the machine this is on at the moment to 
absolutely confirm this. If you get no other replies and are still 
stumped, I'll try to confirm this over the next few days. Write to me 
directly if you need to.
