Except for VMS which has declining interest these days, DEC doesn't really
offer unique software. Windows NT ... Another flavor of Unix/X ... I think
DEC is more focused on hardware, in particular Alpha. Linux will help DEC
sell more Alphas.

What is special or different about Apple, it's hardware or software? It is
their software that sells the hardware, that is why I consider them a
software company. Without the software, they have little left. Once CHRP
systems arrive, this will be even more true.
