I started on 386bsd 0.1 and that was around then.. 386bsad was the anscestor of freebsd 1.x but was only the godparent of 2.x as all code was switched to sources from 4.4.. of course 386bsd bugfixes etc. went into 4.4 as well.. As Michael says below, 386bsd was only one variant of BSD SUN microsystems was founded by guys who'd been working on BSD for several years by that stage and It's so fuzzy in my memory I can't say when that was, exept that I think they were using a 68010 or maybe a 68000 in their first designs (hmm 1980?) :Right. But none of those three is as old as _BSD_. BSD code predates :all free PC "unix" systems. In fact, it predates the Intel-based PC. +----------------------------------+ ______ _ __ | __--_|\ Julian Elischer | \ U \/ / On assignment | / \ julian@tfs.com +------>x USA \ in a very strange | ( OZ ) 300 lakeside Dr. oakland CA. \___ ___ | country ! +- X_.---._/ USA+(510) 645-3137(wk) \_/ \\ ><DARWIN> v LL LL
