This is an exaggeration.  The internet didn't begin on Unix.  But
almost all the new host-end development is done over a BSD base that
I won't press the point.

Yes, but neither company has been at the forefront of adopting the
newest algorithms.  To keep up to date you really want one of the
free BSD branches of the family tree.
