   Perhaps.  I was painting the world with a fairly broad brush and
ignoring all the object-code-only versions of Unix.  I don't really
know how big the UnixWare userbase is, but I would suspect that it's
smaller than both Linux and FreeBSD.

   But even ignoring object-code-only systems is not valid --
MS-DOS, for all of its grottiness, supports a whole shitload of odd
little peripherals, even if making some of them work is rather like
pulling teeth.
