That would just shift the topic of debate to what constitutes a stable
release and which is the most stable Linux distribution, etc etc.

Then he flames you back for ignoring the advantages of his Slackware x.y

As Terry explained in a bit you snipped, this would be pointless. With both
kernels subject to daily changes, any comparison would probably be out of 
date by the time it reached Ultima Thule, was commented on and returned to
sunny California (OK, I know Helsinki's a bit closer to Greenland but you
get the point 8-).
