Hi:

System: i486 DX2, Adaptek, Novel 2000 clone ethernet, Mach 32 video
8 meg, 800 meg HD.

I have just finished installing NetBSD 1.1, and am having a fairly
major
problem:

It boots into the start of single-user mode, then when it asks for the
shell,
no matter what I type, I get

    Init: already running

This message happens once right before the "Enter pathname of shell"
msg,
and twice if I hit return (everytime); likewise if I type /bin/sh.

If I type /bin/csh, I actually get in, but any command that I do has
the same pathology (two messages of "init: already running").

This happens both with the mini-root from the floppy, and an ftp'ed
root
(both of course Adaptek roots).

I've had netbsd 1.0 current on this machine (until July when I lost my
source partitian), but I've never run into this problem before.

Any help would be appreciated. I've just spent two days fighting with
my machine getting it to this point, and now I'm lost. :(
