Ahem.  Cough.  THE DRIVER for each OS is the *main* thing that matters.

Netperf runs fine.  Outdated numbers for the poor old DC21140 cards are
sitting at http://www.geli.com/data/net.perf.html

Performance to/from pipelined burst SRAM systems is quite a bit better.

Summary:  Intel hardware better be pretty good!
