The two biggest problems w/ the 3COM board in FreeBSD are:
	1) plug-and-play mode -- turn it off
	2) media auto-detect -- set it explicitly to 10base-T

I keep a DOS-bootable floppy w/ the 3COM config program on
handy -- my FreeBSD 2.05 system has two 3C509s.
