Two questions. How do I send a print job to a network printer
that is seen on the network, using bootpd, as a valid IP address.
There is a HPLaser Jet 4si on the net, with a Jet Direct port on
it, and bootp running on the BSDI box. The bootptab tells it that
it is 203.22.80.15, and a test print from the printer tells us
that all is well. A ping of the printer also returns true.

It is possible to tftp to the printer, where by anyathing thatis
typed on the console, is echoed to the printer.
But there is NO WAY that I can get lpd to send anything to that
printer !!!!

does anyone have any ideas. There must be a zillion network printers
out there surely!

The other problem is trying to rebuyild the kernel, Ver 2.1,
in the /sys/conf/LOCAL directory I think it was, but make cant
find the required scsi *.c files, and I suspect others.

In other words it doesn't work the way it is described in the hand
book that comes with the package. What's the secret.?

Thanks for any help.

cheers,
Bob
