Yep, it does and very well, too !
I just used the GENERIC kernel and with
	sd(0,a)/kernel -c
and doing later a
	port ep0 0x3000
I got the 3C579 to work fine.
However, I did not do any stress tests nor any real benchmark.
I used a sloooow and ancient Conner 100MB 3.5" disk (25 ms average access time).
So, there was no point is doing real benchmarks. This was just a test whether
it works or not.

After a few hours of (idle) operation I noticed the message
	"ep0: Status 2002"
on the screen.
I wonder, what that means ! I don't know exactly when that happened, though.

After that "root" was not allowed to use telnet nor ftp from remote to this
FBSD system.
This was true in the opposite direction (from the FBSD system), too.
It worked fine just after start-up, though.

I do know about /etc/ftpusers and the keyword "insecure" for network "pty's",
etc. So my questions are:
	1. Why was "root" not prevented from logging in at the beginning ?
	2. Why was every connection as "root" not rejected by other systems
	   at the beginning ?
Is there a "timeout" or any other event which will trigger this ?
OK. I have to admit that the IP-Address I was using was used by an
PC with Windows and DOS before. Of course, this was not connected to the
network at the same time we did this test.

I didn't test this, but I think it should work.
Thanks for your reply.

Sometimes I wonder how long it takes before the News are spread.
It took about one week for this article to arrive and another week
to get the reply !
