PCI video choices from #9 or Matrox will do you fine, though if you go
Matrox be also advised that you'll have to buy commercial X servers for
Solaris and FreeBSD (from the same place - X Inside, Inc :-).

Yeah, should be more than happy with FreeBSD.  Don't know about Solaris,
but I'd certainly expect so..

Indeed.  SMC makes an Etherpower series that works well.  You really
should avail yourself of the Handbook - http://www.freebsd.org; all this
information is in there! :)  See particularly my "picks" page in Chapter
9.
