Could be the 8 Mbit problem: we had to lower the tranfer rate
between AHA2940 and our GrandPrix from 10 to 8 Mbit. It seems a
known problem (alas, I didn't hear it as I wouldn't have chosed
to buy a GrandPrix...).

It has to do with some SCSI commands returned to quick for the con-
troller to be acknowledged and the controller then waiting for eter-
nity for the commands already issued by the hard drive. I believe
newer GrandPrix don't behave so any more.
Perhaps someone more knowledgeable can tell more...
