Yes, I found the same ...

But you don't have to keep the DOS partition.
After it had been created by DOS FDISK, the MBR
seems to be initialised in a way, that makes the
FreeBSD boot happy, too :)

I just reclaimed all space for FreeBSD, when 
doing the install, and thus got rid of the DOS
partition I have no use for ...
