Uh... I hate to burst all your bubbles, but gatekeeper does too run a
portmapper, and they do too export their filesystems via NFS:

So you guys must be doing something wrong. :)

Note that gatekeeper's README.nfs says this:

NFS access to the archive has been restored on a provisional basis.

So it might have been taken down at one point, but it's running now. I
haven't tried it in many months so I never really noticed. Last time I
did try, I did over a 14.4K SLIP link on my machine at home. I didn't
leave it mounted for very long. :)
