I dont know why the user posted his request but
the ability to multihome is very useful for many
applications.

PPP over ISDN is a good example where a
multihoming if would be handy i.e. one if
with many adresses as opposed to many if's
with many addresses. As I seeem to remember
most of the commercial UNIXes support
multihoming in one form or another (Digital UNIX
dont tho!).
