Same here, pretty much: I've got a Sun at home using pppd to dial into
a FreeBSD 2.1-stable system running iijppp. I've also got a FreeBSD
hanging off that home net, but I'm not using it as the ppp/router for
other reasons.

Same here :-(, except that the connection *hangs*. The modems stay
connected, but no traffic flows. If I powercycle my home (Sun) modem,
my work machine (FreeBSD) -auto dials back and I'm OK. But I don't
like having to powercycle modems!

This failure has occurred sometimes several times a day, and sometimes
I can go for a day at a time with no such lockup.

This became unacceptable, so I switched back to using kernel pppd on
the FreeBSD box. It's working fine, but I still think user-level ppp
with auto dial is preferred.
