386bsd boots from a syquest on a 1542b, but after a bit of playing
the machine refused to reboot, saying files couldn't be found. Fdisk
claims bad magic, so I guess it's fatal.

Question is, did this happen due to my error (failure to shutdown
properly),
or do I need some special settings for the 1542b?

at present, I think most settings are default out of the box:

BIOS on,
DMA off (I think)
Floppy on
Parity untouched, but seems to work

any ideas?

thanks
