: I've seen lots of similar experiences with Cuda's on heavily loaded
: systems. The first thing to check is your termination. This is almost
: *always* the cause for problems. Both ends (and only the ends) need to
: be properly terminated and you need to have decent cables.

: Next, the Barracuda's are *notorious* for over-heating. Supposedly the

I had the same problem on the news server with the same configuration!
My fix, I upgraded to a more recent snap 2.1-?? and the problems
mysteriously disappeared. Well it's not that mysterious since some more
big improvements where made to the 2940 driver code. Well the 4GB
Barracuda has been spooling news now for a little over a month uptime
without a hitch. I even have the min free and inode size decreased to
2048K and 0% free and under that load it still holds up. The Barracudas
are known to have some bad quality control so it COULD be the drive.
Other manufacturers are known to be worse though (Seagate), so it's
a lose-lose proposition either way, the cost of cheap storage these
days.

Cheers,
