Can anyone tell me the difference between FreeBSD and NETBSD, or
where I can look for such information?

www.netbsd.org and www.freebsd.org

   Are the two systems related
or maintained by the same people?

They are related. They are both based on 4.4BSD (Lite), the last
great release of BSD "Unix" from Berkeley, but diverge significantly
from there.

They are maintained by different groups of people, with different
visions for their respective systems' evolution.

Both are excellent at their intended goals.
