Apple et al of course retain every right.

The underlying question is how many of our tax dollars should be spent
in the form of courts, sherrifs, law enforcement, etc. to provide
those engaged in strategic litigation with such monopolies?

Remember, they can't do these kind of things without our help in the
form of massive tax dollar subsidies.

Some such protection is justified, but what we as a citizenry have to
examine are the limits: When does a company have a bona-fide right to
their intellectual property, and when are they just abusing the edges
of the law to cause tax-payers to enforce a monopoly for them?
