In addition to upwardly compatible changes for Multigates, the code has major bug-fixes and changes for compatibility with stricter architectures (EG: SUN 4). * "messages" allows short messages to be sent between Macintosh users and/or UNIX users. The package provides Broadcast and Mail notification facilities, message logging. An ICON can be included in the message. Messages are sent with a DA, received with a cdev. The implementation resembles to, biff, write & wall under UNIX. * "motd" allows a UNIX/CAP host to act as an motd server for a Mac. Messages may be read from the Chooser or at Boot time if new. * "timelord" provides Macintosh and UNIX time servers and an rdev time client that sets the Mac time at boot or from the Chooser. * "Dummy adev" is a null Network Control Panel item. Useful on single serial port machines to avoid switching AppleTalk off. * "iptalkadev" is a Macintosh adev (Network Control Panel client) that speaks IPTalk - AppleTalk encapsulated in IP ala.
