Then I assume you are running XFree86-3.1.1 ?! Aren't you ?!
BTW: next time it would be nice, if you could provide some
more information, so one can help you better to track down
the problem !
Ok, then upgrade to XFree86-3.1.2. In this release the S3-968 chip
is supported ! ^^^ !!!
