[ With regards to the OpenMac effort to get the information necessary
to port Linux and NetBSD to the Mac and PowerMac platforms... ]

I have been in contact with several key evangelists and managers within
Apple, in areas like Developer Relations, Developer Tools, and Licensing.
Although certain groups have lost 70% of their working budget, they are
looking at using engineers from projects that have been cut.

I have gotten mail from several people who have sent request messages to
various Apple employees with Internet presence. Although gaining
mindshare is a good think, repeated requests and "Why isn't Apple doing
anything???" messages can generate negative feelings. In fact, my
contacts tell me that we are earning a reputation for screaming and
whining.

I understand that our needs have been neglected for several years, and
that we are *fighting* to get what we want. However, my efforts are
meeting with success and I would ask that we tone down the advocacy for a
few months. Its gonna take at least that long to get the necessary
resources assigned, gather the documents, and put them in some sort of
reasonable order.

I can't say that its gonna be here next week or next month, but I have
asked to be kept informed about our progress. I will relay the status of
our dialog as it comes across the wire.

What I really need is to be kept informed about what the OpenMac projects
need documented. Send me a line, and I will add it to our list and
forward it to the right people.

Thanks Alot,
