Trying to install FreeBSD from floppies on my 386DX (no co-processor) w/5megs
My hard disk is a 314Meg ESDI on a WD 1007V Card.

I'm setting this hard disk to only be for FreeBSD.
200 megs will be for the root partition (/)
100 megs for the /usr partition
and 13 megs for swap space (a meg or so is lost)

It sais "making new file system on rwd0a"
Then I get a message saying "Unable to make new root filesystem! Command
returned status 36"
I press enter and get "Couldn't make filesystems properly. Aborting."
And then returns to the install setup.

I can then tell the system to exit (and reboot) and I see an extra message
that was under the colourful menu.

"wtfs: Input/output error
 DEBUG:Switching back to VTY 0
 DEBUG:Switching back to VTY 0
Warning: Calculated sectors percylinder (3384) disagrees with disk label
(525)
wd0a: hard error writing fsbn 409464 (wd0 bn 409464; cn 779 tn 13 sn 34)
wd0: status 51<seekdone,err> error 10<no_id>
write error: 409464
wtfs: Input/outpuf error
DEBUG Switching back to VTY 0"

The card can be setup to take over the setup (so I pub drive type 1 in
my bios) so that the 314 megs can be seen by dos, and card to use it's
Cyl 618 Heads 16 Sec 63

I tried using the card bios to use the actual parameters of the hard disk
at cyl 1222 heads 15 Sec 35 and even used the computers bios and tell it
NOT to use the drive type 1 and use cyl 1222 headrs 15 sec 35

Nothings seems to help.

If anyone with getting a ESDI machine working with Freebsd experience
could e-mail me with some help it would be appriciated.

Thank you!
