I had both, a SCSI termination problem, that caused problems using >8MB/sec
synchronous. Problem went away, when I put the harddisk at the end of the
SCSI chain... Term-AHA2940----CDROM----QUantumGrandPrix-Term

The other problems were bad RAM modules (mixed 60 and 70 ns). Better use
60ns chips, allows you to switch to 100MHz Pentium.

I have no problems now with FreeBSD-stable (2.1) AHA2940 and Quantum drive.
