	Things are nastier than this.  Here is another story.  I had this 
horrible time with a Mach 64 card.  The machine would run XFree3.1, the 
screen would come up but the entire machine would lock up after a few 
minutes and would have to be rebooted.  As this was our main server machine
you can believe the fun we had.

	As a last resort, I replaced the Mach64 card with an earlier one 
and people are running X to their hearts content.  I read reports about
the Mach64 card and that made me switch cards.

	I have found that the the only difference is that the card that 
works comes up with a message saying something like ramdac - unknown and
the card that hangs the machine comes up with ramdac  ATI <number>/..../...
Could someone please explain this phenomenon and if there is any way to
make the card useable.  Both are PCI Mach64 cards.
