I have a new system on order & I hope to install FreeBSD 2.0.5 on it.
The system has a BusLogic BT-946C Rev. D PCI SCSI Controller, a Conner
CFP1080S SCSI HD, & a Plextor 6PleX SCSI CD Drive. Has anyone here used
any of these components successfully (or not) with FreeBSD? Any
cautions, or other experience you can offer is appreciated.

James,

I just received a Micron Millenia with the same controller and hard
disk. I've had no real problems installing or running 2.0.5 so
far. As shipped by Micron, the Buslogic controller has translation
support for drives greater than 1GB enabled. The Buslogic docs
indicated that this should be disabled for OS's like UNIX, OS/2,
etc. So I disabled it, ran FDISK to partition the disk in two and
reinstalled W95 and FreeBSD. Everything seems to work fine.

The only problem I've run into is when I shutdown FreeBSD. After doing
a shutdown and umount -av, if I do a 'fsck -p' I get an error message
starting something like bt:(0,0,0)... repeated several times (I don't
have the exact message 'cause I was planning on investigating a little
more before looking for help, but if anyone has a suggestion, I'd be
grateful). If I do a 'sync' after that I get the same message. If I
skip the fsck, I can sync and reboot just fine.

I installed FreeBSD by itself on a quantum LP525S, and can shutdown
and fsck just fine, so I don't know if the problem is due to the
Conner, or the partitioning. BTW, I get the same error if I leave the
>1GB translation enabled.

Hope this helps.
Bill
