No, the moderator refused to post an RFD that used 'os' instead
of 'unix'.

The group naming choices were based on that fact, not on name
popularity.


The RFD thread was strewn with discussions of whether or not
another moderated group (the announce group) would be announced
to if the name included 'os' instead of 'unix', or if its moderator
would prevent the announcement because of his personal bias
(the only way it could be prevented if the bylaws are followed
otherwise).
