I also had many problems with Linux - namely "kernel panics" that I was 
unable to fix after months of trying. People were telling me after all 
my tests that it "must be my hardware."

Then I deleted Linux from my system and installed FreeBSD 2.05 from 
Walnut Creek's CD-ROM. I haven't had even a single problem since! It has 
been running uninterrupted since installation, and now I have been using 
it round-the-clock to handle all the news and e-mail for my FirstClass 
BBS. I even have it do the correct JIS/SHIFT-JIS filtering needed for 
Japanese Internet messages.

FreeBSD is very stable.
